The Eiffel Tower
by
Sophie Green
The Eiffel Tower is my novel for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) 2011, which takes place each year in November. This will be my fifth year of doing NaNoWriMo. The aim of NaNoWriMo is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. Last year, however, I wrote in excess of 111,000 words! (Although my target had been 150,000 words.) This year my target was originally 155,000 words - if I hit that target then my cumulative total for my five NaNoWriMo's would exceed 500,000 words. I not only met that target, but exceeded it, with the final word count being 160,056! For more details on NaNoWriMo visit their website at www.nanowrimo.org
Last year I also got myself sponsored to raise some money for charity, and I've done the same this year. The specific charity that I'm helping is St Luke's Hospice (Harrow and Brent). They provide care and support to terminally ill patients and their families from the Harrow and Brent areas of north London, regardless of their background. In May 2009 my father sadly passed away, but his final days were made more comfortable by St Luke's, and I'm grateful for the care that they gave him and the support that they gave to my family. And so I would like to raise some money for them as my way of saying thanks. You can find out more about St Luke's via their website at www.stlukes-hospice.org
If you would like to sponsor me you can do so via my Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/karlsgreen2011 I and St Luke's will be grateful for anything that you're able to give.
Unlike last year I didn't upload a chapter of my novel to my site (almost) everyday. I waited until I had finished it, and I uploaded it here on 30th November.
However, remember, what I've posted is merely a first draft of a novel. It may contain typos. It may contain minor continuity errors. There are certainly parts that could be worked on and improved. But, as far as first drafts are concerned, I'm extremely proud of this one.
And so, without any further delay, I present to you my novel. Any feedback can be sent to karlsgreen@hotmail.com

This year I was given the opportunity to write a pep talk for Nano London.
